CPSC recall 11-135, announced February 17, 2011, covers IKEA SNIGLAR cribs (about 20,000 units). The four bolts provided with some SNIGLAR cribs to secure the mattress support are not long enough. The notice reports no incidents. Consumers should stop using the crib immediately and check the crib. Recall contact: call (888) 966-4532, or go to www.ikea-usa.com.

What to check on the product label

Compare the model on your label, then check any serial numbers, date codes, and exclusions in the notice. A model match alone does not confirm that your unit is included.

The CPSC data does not provide a discrete model-number list for this record. Compare the product description and identification details on the official notice.

Additional identifying details

This recall involves SNIGLAR non-drop-side, full-size cribs with model number 60091931.

Which products are included?

This recall involves SNIGLAR non-drop-side, full-size cribs with model number 60091931. SNIGLAR, IKEA and the model number are printed on a label attached to the mattress support. The crib frame and mattress support are made of natural/light-colored wood.

Why it was recalled

The four bolts provided with some SNIGLAR cribs to secure the mattress support are not long enough. This can cause the mattress support to detach and collapse, creating a risk of entrapment and suffocation to a child in the crib.

Incidents and injuries

None reported

Official remedy

Consumers should stop using the crib immediately and check the crib. If the mattress support bolts extend through the nut, the bolts are the proper length and the crib is not included in the recall. If the bolt does not extend through the nut, the crib is included in the recall. Contact IKEA for a free repair kit for recalled cribs. In the meantime, find an alternate, safe sleep environment for the child, such as a bassinet, play yard or toddler bed depending on the child's age.
