CPSC published a recall notice for Slow Cookers from Hamilton Beach/Proctor-Silex on July 17, 2003. CPSC identifies this hazard: The handles on the base of the slow cookers can break, posing a risk of burns from hot food spilling onto consumers. The official remedy states: Consumers will be shipped a replacement slow cooker base.
